WHat Are CarRier Oils?

The basics

Essential oils are by their very nature, both concentrated and volatile. Because of their high level of concentration, applying some essential oils directly to the skin can cause irritation and inflammation.

The volatility of essential oils causes the them to dissipate as soon as they are applied to the skin.

When you use carrier oils with your essential oils, the dilution allows them to safely interact with, and be "carried" to the skin. On top of this, the carrier oils prevent immediate dissipation of the oils into the air.
